Training program on bio-medical devices begins at NIT Srinagar – Jammu Kashmir Latest News | Tourism | Breaking News J&K – Top Stories

SRINAGAR, June 23: A week-long short term training program on “Bio-medical devices: design and manufacturing” began today at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar.
The program is being organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering and is sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof A M Bhat, former Principal, Regional Engineering College (REC), now NIT Srinagar, while Director NIT Srinagar, Prof (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal was guest of honour on the occasion.
In his presidential remarks, Prof Bhat said NIT Srinagar is a leading institute in north India not only in terms of skill-oriented education but placements as well. He said the development of facilities in India rather than importing foreign technology will improve the growth of the country.
Prof Sehgal said the development of institution is more important than the development of individuals. He said there is a need for such workshops for all-round development of skills and knowledge for the participants. He also highlighted the collaboration with various institutes across the country especially the ongoing project with SKIMS Srinagar.
Institute’s Registrar, Prof Syed Kaiser Bukhari said, “We need to develop and test solutions; predict outcomes and mitigate harm and make informed policy decisions.” He said research and innovation are critical for generating new knowledge, building new infrastructure, and educating innovators and entrepreneurs.
Resource persons for the course are Prof B Ravi (IIT Bombay), Prof Sanjay Gupta (IIT Kharagpur), Dr Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, Dr M F Wani, Dr Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Gagan Deep Singh, Dr Sheikh Shahid Saleem, Dr Naveen Kumar, Dr Mohammad Mursaleen, Dr Rakesh Sehgal, Dr Dinesh Kumar Rajendran and Dr Sheikh Nazir Ahmad.
